Support for schools

We offer bespoke training directly at your school/locality or through other organisations and workshops for students.

Teacher Training

Our bespoke training can be delivered as twilight or full days depending on your needs and budget. Contact us to find out more.

Building confidence to teach beyond the classroom

An inspirational session including overcoming barriers, involving students in the process of learning outside, and trying quick activities from a variety of curriculum areas.

Integrating learning beyond the classroom into your whole curriculum

Working as a staff team, you will identify learning opportunities within your curriculum to offer experiential learning in your school grounds, local learning area and beyond to museums, galleries and other attractions.

Gardening with your students

With many years experience delivering training for the RHS we can develop your knowledge and skills to teach gardening. We can look at the science of plants, basic planting skills and gardening with a whole class. Or maybe you need a more in-depth course including crop planning to fit the school calendar, propagating plants for enterprise projects and activities for the winter months.

Bushcraft and Forest School Taster Session

A session for those considering integrating Bushcraft or Forest Schools into your school. Having established Lincolnshire Forest School and Woodland Network we are well placed to discuss the rationale behind them both and give you a taster of some classic activities. Why not include a wood-fire cooked lunch for a staff bonding day?

Teaching life processes and living things in the outdoors (primary)

IO is well placed to help develop your confidence in teaching life processes - including basic ecological understanding, sampling, identification, presenting data.

Student Workshops

All our support is co-created with your staff and students to meet your needs whether your focus is curriculum based, for personal development or connection to nature.

Growing in your grounds

Growing Projects can be run in your school, whatever size and type of grounds you have. Inspiring Outdoors can help to set one up, including designing your growing space, training your staff or directly gardening with your students. Funding from Ernest Cook Trust or other funders may be able to support this work.

Marine Exploration

As former Marine Biologist and Head of Centre at Gibraltar Point NNR, Kim Hudson, lead of Inspiring Outdoors, is well placed to help you get the most out of your coastal visits. We can offer a range of bespoke A-level, GCSE, Key Stage 3 and primary programmes to meet your needs.

Nature Explorers

Whether for a one-off day or for a series of weekly activities, a programme can be designed to fulfill any of the environmental units of the curriculum, or to open your students' eyes to the world around them, allowing them to connect with nature.

Experiential Science

We are passionate that science should be exciting, engaging and inspirational. It should encourage critical and scientific thinking, and help students consider the world around them and how it all works.

We offer interactive workshops in using your building, grounds, local area or a site near you. We also offer CPD and creative science curriculum development.

Wild Child Experience

Allow your students to enjoy the great outdoors with the Wild Child Experience

Woodland exploring activities - the possibilities are endless and can be curriculum linked or just to develop a sense of well-being connecting with nature and each other.

Growing Scientific Minds

We are delighted to have secured funding from The Edina Trust to run an outdoor science project to support the science curriculum around growing, wildlife and the environment.

5 lucky schools in Ceredigion, Wales will be supported to embed practical activities into their science curriculum and develop their grounds to allow for more science exploration. Click here to find out more.
